IEA modelling has shown that limiting global warming to 1.5°C requires doubling the average annual rate of energy efficiency improvement from around 2 per cent to over 4 per cent every year until 2030. At COP28 in Dubai last year, Australia joined a global coalition of 132 countries pledging to meet this target collectively, ultimately leading to the adoption of the target by all countries as part of the UAE COP28 Consensus Agreement.

Joining Jeremy Sung from EEC on the day will be Nicholas Howarth from IEA HQ in Paris, and Amandine Denis-Ryan, CEO of the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis.
